The Highfield Mole
The Highfield Mole is the first book by authors Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams.
The Highfield Mole was published by Matthew and Son, a publishing company created by Gordon and Williams to self-publish
their venture. The book was originally published in March 2005 with a run of 500 hardbacks and 2000 paperbacks. The book was
discovered by Barry Cunningham of Chicken House (the man who discovered Harry Potter). After undergoing an editing process,
the book became Tunnels. Original copies of The Highfield Mole have become a hot collector's item, and
are currently selling for $400-$2,000. Eighty of the original 500 hard back copies were given an additional hand-drawn illustration
by Brian Williams and are known as the Remarque edition. The ultimate collector's item is an edition of The Highfield
Mole known as the Colony Edition. There are only ten copies, each bound in goat skin with a hand-drawn illustration by
Brian Williams. The first one was auctioned off on eBay, with the proceeds going to NCH, a children's charity in the UK
that focuses on fostering and adoption.
Tunnels
Tunnels
is the name reassigned to the Highfield Mole after it was picked up by the Chicken House and underwent an editing
process. Tunnels is the story of Will Burrows, a boy whose only connection to his family is his and
his father's shared love of digging. When Dr. Burrows disappears down a mysterious tunnel, it is up to Will and his friend
Chester to save him. Will and Chester soon discover an underground world where they learn a dark secret that will change their
lives forever. Will and Chester must use this newfound knowledge to find Dr. Burrows and return to the Topsoil before being
captured by the vindictive Styx. Can Will and Chester find Dr. Burrows and get out alive? Tunnels was published in
the UK on July 2, 2007, and in the US on December 10, 2007.

book left off, Will, Chester and Cal are on the Miners’ Train and headed for one of the most dangerous places imaginable
… The Deeps. Here they face terrors worse even than those in the Colony; vicious renegades who will kill you
just for your boots, savage creatures long thought extinct, and Styx soldiers who roam the dark wilds slaughtering anyone
who gets in their way. And as if that wasn’t enough, Will learns that Rebecca is embarking on an evil plan that threatens
every single person on the planet. "
